This diet requires the book.

It was published by Quill Driver Books in 2005. To get a full picture of this diet you will have to read the book. This diet is as much a lifestyle as it is a weight-management program. Logan claims that you can enjoy a wide variety of delicious, nutritious foods even as you shed unwanted pounds. You even get to accompany your meals with fine wine. What could be better?

You don’t have to deny yourself fine food and wine to get to the weight and body image that you want. Does this sound too good to be true? Keep reading. But if you want to experiment with this diet make sure to discuss it with your doctor.

A basic principle of the California Wine Country Diet is “conscious indulgence” which melds a “conscious” attention to nutrition and physical activity with the pleasures of “indulgence” in fine food and wine. Conscious indulgence keeps you from the disappointments and even depression that so often affect dieters. By consciously indulging yourself you may find the strength to watch your weight over the long haul.

My Idea of a Diet

My idea of diet in wine diet

Indulge yourself on this wine diet.

The California Wine Country Diet defines six fundamental aspects of healthy weight management: nutrition, physical activity, practicality, pleasure, relationships, and variety. Unlike many other diets that focus uniquely on nutrition and physical activity, at least during a diet phase, the California Wine Country Diet considers the six aspects of weight management.

The California Wine Country Diet places a focus on local food, and local wine but many of the suggested recipes are powerfully influenced by Mediterranean, Asian, and Latin American cuisine. This book includes three weeks of suggested daily food plans that nutritionally stem from the USDA 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. It addition to menus highly influenced by the Mediterranean Diet and other traditional diets you’ll find recipes and wine pairing suggestions from many great California chefs.

This diet offers a choice of three calorie plans: Plan A 1200 calories, Plan B 1600 calories, and Plan C 2000 calories. As a convenience, all plans are listed on the same page. You’ll be able to substitute items or entire meals without compromising your daily nutritional goals. At the bottom of the page you will note the Pleasure Foods category based on the concept of conscious indulgence introduced above and discussed within the book. And you will rate your daily experience in the six categories.
